Instrumentation and Separations Technology

Through his undergraduate studies in Biology and professional roles as a Research Assistant in Biochemical Pharmacology at Arthur D. Little; a Technical Support Specialist at Millipore-Waters; a Product Marketing Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific and a Marketing Manager at Omega Specialty Instruments; Ed has used and understands a broad range of instrumentation and separations technology.

These include HPLC, MS, GC, LC/MS, GC/MS, GPC and a range of other chromatographic and spectrographic techniques used to isolate, analyze and purify pharmaceuticals, drug metabolites, industrial polymers; as well as portable and fixed instruments for the monitoring of process chemicals and the detection of environmental pollutants.

He is also familiar with the use of membrane products and systems to purify and process biopharmaceuticals, and collect air samples for analysis.

He was co-author of a paper that appeared in the Journal of Liquid Chromatography for the detection of low levels of the cancer therapeutic 5-Fluoruracil.

Ed keeps up with new developments and current events in instrumentation and separations technology with pharmaceutical applications through his network of contacts at related organizations, and through industry literature.
